Israel's Chief of the General Staff, Eyal Zamir, visited the Thirty Sixth Division operating in southern Lebanon, where he conducted an operational assessment and met with senior commanders. He received briefings on ongoing activities and issued directives for the continuation of operations aimed at securing northern Israel.
Zamir said Israel is engaged in a historic war and praised battalion and brigade commanders for their actions. He stated that Israel has significantly damaged Iran's defense industry, including facilities producing weapons for Hezbollah, and emphasized that Israel will not allow hostile forces to establish a presence along its borders.
According to Zamir, Israeli forces have met the objectives set by the political leadership in both Iran and Lebanon. He said troops are positioned along a line intended to prevent direct fire on northern communities and may be required to remain there until long-term security is ensured.
He stressed that operations will continue without pause, including dismantling militant infrastructure and eliminating threats both near and beyond the current defensive line. Zamir concluded by expressing pride in the troops and highlighting public support for their mission to secure northern Israel.
