Israel has supplied the United Arab Emirates with its advanced laser-based air defence system known as Iron Beam, as tensions rise during the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran. The system is designed to destroy short-range rockets and drones with high precision and has previously been used against projectiles from Lebanon. Israel also deployed a surveillance platform capable of detecting incoming drones from up to twenty kilometres away, with some systems reportedly delivered in prototype form due to urgent operational needs.
The United Arab Emirates has faced large-scale attacks involving hundreds of ballistic missiles and thousands of drones from Iran. Layered air defence systems, including Israeli equipment, were activated and intercepted most of the incoming threats. Israeli personnel were sent to assist with operations, highlighting the depth of military coordination between the two countries.
The move reflects expanding defence ties since the diplomatic normalisation agreement brokered by the United States. Washington has also approved billions of dollars in military sales to regional allies, aiming to strengthen collective security. The deployment of Iron Beam marks a significant operational test of the Israel and United Arab Emirates partnership amid escalating regional instability.
