An investigation by Cable News Network has found that Iran inflicted extensive damage on a large number of United States military bases across the Persian Gulf, striking at least 16 installations in eight countries with missiles and drones. Several bases were reportedly left inoperable after what sources described as fast and highly precise attacks using advanced technology.

Among the most significant losses was a Boeing E-3 surveillance aircraft used for monitoring, command, and communications operations for United States and North Atlantic Treaty Organization forces. The aircraft was destroyed, with replacement costs estimated at $500 million. Advanced communications systems, satellite dishes, and numerous radar installations were also heavily damaged.

The central command facility at Al Udeid base in Qatar, which oversees Air Force operations across 21 countries, was reportedly struck twice. Damage to radar systems was described as particularly serious due to their high cost and limited availability. Reports also indicate that Iran obtained advanced satellite capabilities from China in 2024, enhancing its targeting precision.

The scale of the destruction has reportedly led some Gulf states to reassess their security dependence on Washington, with concerns emerging about the reliability and exclusivity of longstanding alliances in the region.
