India-bound LPG tanker clears Hormuz, supply relief cargo heads to Vizag - The Times of India

A liquefied petroleum gas tanker carrying 46,313 tonnes of fuel for India has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and is heading toward Visakhapatnam, where it is expected to arrive on May 13. The vessel, MT Sarv Shakti, is crewed by 20 members, including 18 Indians, and cleared the strategic waterway on May 2 amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.

The shipment is sufficient to meet about half a day of India’s liquefied petroleum gas demand and is expected to provide partial relief to supplies disrupted by the regional conflict over the past two months. The tanker was chartered by Indian Oil Corporation and is the first India-linked vessel to pass through the affected zone since a United States blockade on ships linked to Iran sharply reduced traffic through the strait.

Fourteen Indian-flagged or India-owned vessels remain stranded on the western side of the strait, though no recent incidents involving Indian ships have been reported. Authorities are coordinating efforts to ensure crew welfare and smooth maritime operations, while port activities across India continue without congestion.
