Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said recent events in the Strait of Hormuz demonstrate that there is no military solution to the ongoing crisis. In a social media post, he warned that escalating force would only deepen the conflict and urged political dialogue instead.
Araghchi cautioned the United States and the United Arab Emirates against being drawn into what he described as a quagmire by ill-wishers. He said that diplomatic efforts, including talks supported by Pakistan, were making progress and should not be undermined. Referring to the newly launched American operation to free ships in the Strait of Hormuz, he said that 'Project Freedom is Project Deadlock.'
His remarks came after Iran launched ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones toward the United Arab Emirates, injuring three people. In response, President Donald Trump said American forces shot down several small Iranian boats near the strait and warned that Iran would face severe consequences if it targeted American naval vessels escorting commercial ships.
