Iran restarts attacks on UAE as US fights to restore traffic in Strait of Hormuz

Iran launched more than a dozen missiles and several drones at the United Arab Emirates, renewing attacks for the first time since a fragile ceasefire took hold last month. Air defenses intercepted most of the projectiles, but a drone strike sparked a fire at a major oil facility in Fujairah and wounded three people. Commercial flights were disrupted and cargo vessels were reported ablaze off the coast, as residents received missile alerts for the first time since the truce began.

The escalation came as the United States moved to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route that Iran has effectively blocked in recent weeks. American forces escorted merchant ships through the waterway and engaged Iranian boats and missiles, with President Donald Trump warning Tehran it would be 'blown off the face of the earth' if it attacked United States vessels. Iran said there is no military solution to the الأزمة, even as it cautioned foreign forces against entering the strait.

The renewed violence has rattled global energy markets, sending oil prices sharply higher and intensifying fears of prolonged supply disruptions. The United States and Gulf Arab nations are now drafting a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning Iran’s actions, while regional officials warn the energy and economic fallout from the crisis could persist.
