Religious leaders from across the United Kingdom have said that antisemitism is a problem that must be addressed by society as a whole, expressing solidarity with the country’s Jewish community in an open letter. The message was supported by prominent figures from business, sport and media, who described recent incidents as a nightmare from another time.
The letter follows a series of attacks targeting Jewish people and places of worship, including the recent stabbing of two Jewish men in north London. Signatories from Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Zoroastrian communities affirmed that Jewish people belong in the country as much as anyone else and called for collective action to confront hatred.
