A 25-year-old man from Hebron was arrested on suspicion of stealing dozens of mezuzahs from residential buildings in Holon and Bat Yam. The arrest followed multiple reports over the past week of mezuzahs being removed from doorframes in the two cities.
Police from the Holon station launched an undercover investigation that included the use of advanced technological equipment. As the investigation progressed, officers identified the suspect and located him in a residential apartment in Jaffa, where he was found with numerous mezuzahs believed to have been stolen.
The suspect was taken in for questioning to determine his involvement in additional incidents and to gather further evidence. He is scheduled to be brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing on a request to extend his detention as the investigation continues.
