The United States believes Iran has regained access to most of its missile launch infrastructure, according to a report by The New York Times citing senior American officials. Intelligence assessments indicate that about 90 percent of Iran’s underground missile facilities are at least partially operational, and the country retains roughly 70 percent of its prewar missile stockpile.
Officials said Iran maintains access to around 30 active missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, posing a potential threat to American naval vessels in the region. Although some fixed sites were damaged, Iran can still deploy missiles from non-operational locations using mobile launchers, with approximately 70 percent of those mobile systems still available.
A separate report by The Wall Street Journal stated that Iran retains thousands of short and medium-range ballistic missiles and has the ability to reactivate launchers despite recent military operations. The assessment challenges earlier claims by the United States Defense Secretary that Iran’s arsenal had been severely depleted, suggesting Tehran continues to maintain significant strike capabilities, including missiles capable of reaching Israel.
