The United States Secretary of State has approved 25.8 billion dollars in weapons sales to Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, according to a report by Bloomberg. The Trump administration has already authorized 8.6 billion dollars in expedited sales and is classifying the additional approvals as modifications to earlier agreements. The full amount is expected to be formally recorded once Congress reconvenes.
The expanded arms package underscores Washington’s support for allies impacted by recent Iranian attacks during Operation Epic Fury. The announcement follows a ceasefire between the United States, Israel, and Iran after a month-long conflict in which Gulf nations reported extensive interceptions of Iranian drones and ballistic missiles.
A significant portion of the proposed sales includes advanced air defense interceptors. However, questions remain about delivery timelines due to limited production capacity. Industry experts note that fulfilling the large-scale orders could take years, as current manufacturing output is already largely committed to existing contracts.
