At least eight people were injured, four seriously, after a driver deliberately rammed a car into pedestrians in the northern Italian city of Modena. Two of the seriously injured were airlifted to a hospital in Bologna, and one woman reportedly lost both her legs. The car eventually crashed into a shop window.
The 30-year-old driver, described as being of North African origin, attempted to flee the scene and stabbed a bystander who tried to stop him, causing minor injuries. He was later arrested by police. Authorities said he had been receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders, and investigations are ongoing to determine his motives.
Italian leaders and international officials condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, calling for full accountability for the perpetrator.
