Former Civil Service Commissioner Daniel Hershkowitz has withdrawn his candidacy for the position of State Comptroller, narrowing the race to two contenders: Michael Rabilo, the prime minister's attorney, and former Supreme Court Justice Yosef Elron.
The campaign has seen political turbulence, with five coalition Members of Knesset reportedly withdrawing their support for Rabilo. One lawmaker who had previously secured backing from ten colleagues for Rabilo was among those reversing course.
Meanwhile, Member of Knesset Merav Ben-Ari announced she would submit signatures from her party and the Together Party in support of Elron, praising his integrity and professional achievements. She also sharply criticized the ruling party, alleging it prioritizes loyalty over merit in senior appointments, while a fellow lawmaker claimed the party would ultimately back Rabilo.
