The White House on Wednesday accused Tucker Carlson of spreading 'fake news' after he told an Israeli television station that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dragged the United States into war with Iran. In a statement to Channel 13, officials defended President Donald Trump’s long-standing position that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon and rejected claims that Israel pressured him into military action.
Carlson, speaking in an interview aired Tuesday night, alleged that Netanyahu, pro-Israel media figures, and political donors pushed Trump into the conflict. He argued that the war harms both the United States and the broader world, and claimed Trump 'caved under the pressure' of Israeli leadership and its allies.
The conflict began on February 28, when Israel and the United States launched a campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities. Iran responded with regional missile and drone strikes and blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global oil shipments. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since April 8, though the strait remains blocked.
During the interview, Carlson also sharply criticized Israel’s conduct in Gaza, accused it of losing its morality, and questioned continued United States military aid. He suggested he could face retaliation for his views, while insisting he is not antisemitic and has always liked Israel.
