Hungary has withdrawn its intention to leave the International Criminal Court, Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced. The decision reverses an earlier plan to exit the court and follows previous statements that Hungary would be obligated to detain any individual wanted by the tribunal if they entered the country.

The court issued arrest warrants in 2024 for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Additional warrants are expected against several other senior Israeli officials and military leaders.

Hungary had initially moved toward leaving the court under former prime minister Viktor Orban, who argued that the institution had become political. Despite being a member, Hungary previously said Netanyahu could visit without facing arrest, and he traveled to the country in 2025, praising Hungary's stance at the time.
