An Israeli infantry soldier, Staff Sergeant Touvel Yosef Lifshiz, 20, from Beit She'an, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon, the military announced on Wednesday evening. Lifshiz served in the Golani Brigade's 13th Battalion.

The incident occurred around noon Tuesday when troops from the battalion encountered a terrorist cell at close range, leading to an intense exchange of fire. Several soldiers were wounded in the clash, and Lifshiz was critically injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

One additional soldier was seriously wounded, while four others sustained moderate and light injuries. Forces evacuated the casualties under fire and reported that at least one terrorist was killed. Following the confrontation, the military launched artillery and airstrikes targeting the area where the clash took place.
