Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Hungary's Peter Magyar on his election victory, a day after the results were announced. Magyar defeated longtime Hungarian leader Viktor Orban, who has been a close ally of Netanyahu and a strong supporter of Israel.
In his message, Netanyahu praised Orban as 'a true friend of Israel' who stood by the country during periods of international criticism and supported Israel's military actions. He said the people of Israel would remember Orban's backing.
Netanyahu also expressed his intention to work with Magyar, wishing him success in leading Hungary and voicing hope for continued cooperation and strong ties between the two nations for the benefit of both peoples.
