Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said there is 'no ceasefire' in southern Lebanon, stressing that troops are continuing combat operations against Hezbollah. During a visit to forces in the town of Taybeh, he said the military will not tolerate attacks on northern Israeli communities and will maintain its new security line until long term safety is ensured.
Zamir said the military’s mission is to position forces to prevent direct fire on Israeli communities and to remove both direct and indirect threats. He emphasized that operations to dismantle infrastructure and target militants are ongoing, with no restrictions on action where threats are identified, including areas beyond the United Nations demarcation line and north of the Litani River.
He added that while forces are not currently advancing beyond the established line, they will continue operating freely to eliminate dangers to troops and civilians. Zamir also stated that objectives set by Israel’s political leadership regarding operations in Iran and Lebanon have been achieved and even surpassed, creating conditions for further diplomatic and political steps.
