The Japan-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship League convened a key general meeting in Tokyo, bringing together Saudi and Japanese officials to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. Saudi Ambassador Ghazi Faisal Binzagr described the league as a vital bridge fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration, particularly following the recent celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Binzagr highlighted the expansion of cooperation since the launch of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030 in 2017, noting that relations have grown beyond energy to include industry, investment, technology, innovation, and culture. He emphasized that energy security remains central to economic stability and called for deeper resilience through integrated cooperation. He also pointed to progress toward establishing a Strategic Partnership Council and stressed that continued collaboration is essential.
Former minister Nishimura Yasutoshi expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s steady oil supplies during regional tensions and reaffirmed Japan’s desire to deepen ties. He noted that cooperation now spans hydrogen, ammonia, advanced materials, and emerging sectors such as esports, gaming, anime, space, and artificial intelligence. Both sides underscored their shared commitment to expanding partnerships in innovative industries and strengthening long-term strategic relations.
