A Jewish man in London says he no longer feels safe in Britain after being assaulted days before two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, a center of the city’s Jewish community. Writing under his first name, Moishe described a climate of rising antisemitism that has left many Jews questioning their future in the country.
Moishe recounted being verbally abused and threatened while working in Slough, with the attacker calling him a 'dirty Jew' and a 'baby killer.' After posting video of the incident online, the suspect was arrested and later pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault. Moishe also described a separate incident in which a taxi driver allegedly told his wife and others that he dreamed of killing Jews.
He said hostility has intensified since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel, with vandalism, torn-down posters of hostages, and attacks on Jewish community services reported in Golders Green. While some of his friends are considering leaving Britain, others believe they should remain. Moishe warned that unless conditions change dramatically, he does not believe Jews have a future in the country.
