US President Donald Trump said that if the United States returns to war with Iran, it would take approximately two to three weeks to achieve its objectives. He stated that much of the necessary military action has already been completed and that the remaining steps could be finished quickly if required.
Trump emphasized that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is the central goal, saying that either a deal would be reached or the United States would prevail militarily. He added that any agreement must include the removal of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
While acknowledging concerns about Iran's ballistic missiles and regional proxy funding, Trump downplayed their importance compared to the nuclear issue. He suggested that damage to Iran's energy infrastructure would limit its ability to finance proxy groups and noted that the United States has intentionally avoided heavily targeting Iran's conventional army, describing it as more moderate.
Trump also criticized Pope Leo the Fourteenth, accusing him of endangering Catholics by allegedly accepting the possibility of a nuclear armed Iran. The remarks came shortly before a planned meeting between the United States Secretary of State and the pontiff at the Vatican.
