The number of people identifying as Palestinians worldwide reached 15.5 million by the end of 2025, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics. Of these, 7.4 million live in the Palestinian territories and inside Israel, including about 2 million who hold Israeli citizenship granted after the 1948 war.

Around 8.1 million Palestinians live in the diaspora, with 6.8 million residing in Arab countries. The figures were released to mark the 78th anniversary of the Nakba, when nearly 750,000 Palestinians fled or were forcibly expelled from their homes.

The data shows that about 3.43 million Palestinians live in the West Bank and 2.13 million in the Gaza Strip, territories recognized by most members of the United Nations as part of a future Palestinian state. The report comes amid ongoing conflict in Gaza and the West Bank, where large-scale displacement and tens of thousands of deaths have been reported since late 2023.
