Foreign ministers from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia ended a two day meeting in New Delhi without issuing a joint statement, citing differing views on the conflict in the Middle East. India, which hosted the talks, said members presented their respective national positions and shared a range of perspectives on issues such as sovereignty, maritime security and the protection of civilian lives and infrastructure.
A footnote in the Indian statement noted that one member had reservations about sections addressing Gaza and security in the Red Sea and the Bab al Mandeb Strait. The divisions have become more visible amid the ongoing war involving Iran, highlighting tensions within the group, particularly between Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
During the meeting, Iran's foreign minister urged member states to condemn the United States and Israel over what he described as unlawful aggression and called for resistance to the politicization of international institutions.
