Mexican actress Melissa Barrera is promoting a new production company aimed at amplifying Palestinian voices while continuing her return to the spotlight. In a recent interview, she said she is building a slate of projects and forming a network of like-minded creatives, particularly those who supported her after her dismissal from the Scream franchise in 2023.
Barrera was removed from the horror series after posting social media messages criticizing Israel's military actions in Gaza and calling for a ceasefire. The studio stated it had zero tolerance for antisemitism or hate speech. Reflecting on the fallout, Barrera previously described the period as the darkest year of her life and said she had to reevaluate everything.
Now entering what she calls chapter two of her career, Barrera is starring in the Broadway musical Titanique, which has received several Tony Award nominations. She is also set to lead the upcoming horror film Inhabit, marking her continued presence in both theater and film while pursuing projects aligned with her advocacy.
