Jordan and Venezuela signed a series of agreements in Amman during a visit by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil, marking the first such visit in more than seventy years of diplomatic relations. Gil met King Abdullah the Second and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, energy, investment, pharmaceuticals, tourism, information technology and culture. They signed four agreements and memoranda covering agricultural cooperation, political consultations, academic collaboration between diplomatic institutes and the creation of a joint committee, while working to finalize deals on investment protection, double taxation and visa exemptions.
Safadi described the visit as 'a new beginning' in relations, emphasizing shared political will to expand economic ties. Gil said Venezuela views Jordan as an important regional partner and expressed hope for deeper cooperation across multiple sectors, while both sides reaffirmed support for efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability in the Middle East.
