Bereaved families and members of the October Council held small protests outside the homes of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several government ministers ahead of Israel's Memorial Day. The demonstrators are calling for the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the failures that led to the October 7, 2023 attack.
The protests, including one near the home of Education Minister Yoav Kisch, were organized in the days leading up to the national day of remembrance for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. Participants said the timing was intentional, as the country prepares to honor those who were killed.
In a statement, organizers said the nation must not forget or forgive those they hold responsible for what they described as the greatest disaster since the country's founding. They argued that a formal state inquiry is the only way to uncover the truth, ensure accountability, and prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.
