Israel Flores Ortiz, 18, was sentenced to 360 days in jail after being convicted of groping multiple female classmates in the hallways of Fairfax High School in Virginia. With credit for time served, he has 135 days remaining. The judge described the conduct as 'targeted' and a 'pattern' of deplorable behavior, noting that several victims said the incidents changed how they move through daily life.
Flores Ortiz, who is in the country illegally and arrived from El Salvador in 2024, was charged as an adult but tried in juvenile court because most of the victims were minors. He was convicted in nine cases, acquitted in three and had one charge dismissed. Originally, police said he was accused of assaulting 13 female students.
During sentencing, the defense argued for a shorter term, describing the acts as immature behavior and not sexually motivated. Flores Ortiz apologized in court to the victims and their families. The judge ordered two years of probation after his release, along with a psychosexual evaluation and any recommended treatment, stating that while the crimes were serious, she believes in redemption.
