An Israeli soldier was seriously wounded after an explosive drone struck during operations in southern Lebanon. The military had attempted to intercept the drone using technological systems, but those efforts failed, forcing troops to open heavy fire in an attempt to bring it down before impact.
The incident has intensified concerns over the growing threat posed by explosive drones. The Defense Ministry recently issued a call for proposals seeking new solutions to counter such aerial threats, highlighting the urgency of improving interception capabilities.
The drones used by Hezbollah were reportedly imported from the Ukrainian front, where both Russia and Ukraine have refined their use over four years of war. These relatively inexpensive fiber optic guided drones have been deployed for both strike missions and intelligence gathering, including photographing enemy territory.
