Hezbollah has begun deploying advanced first person view drones against Israel Defense Forces troops in Lebanon, marking a significant shift in battlefield tactics. These drones, guided in real time through special goggles worn by operators, allow precise navigation and control in complex combat environments.
The drones are highly maneuverable, capable of rapid acceleration and operating in dense urban areas. They can enter buildings through small openings such as windows or chimneys, making early detection and interception difficult. A major upgrade in the latest model is the use of a fiber optic cable for guidance, which makes the system resistant to electronic jamming and improves operational accuracy.
Relatively inexpensive and often built using civilian components, the drones are easy to produce and replace. Their simplicity enables large numbers to be launched simultaneously, increasing their effectiveness. Israeli defense officials have acknowledged a growing use of these drones during the current conflict, though specific data on their impact has not been disclosed.
