The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin was vandalized with green graffiti containing inflammatory content, according to police and the site’s caretaking foundation. The graffiti was discovered on a stele and quickly covered by security staff, with a cleaning service brought in to remove the damage. State security has taken over the investigation, and no suspects have been identified.
The Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe condemned the act, describing it as an insult and reviewing it as antisemitic and seditious damage. The incident adds to a series of recent antisemitic acts in Berlin, including hateful graffiti found on residential buildings in the Pankow borough.
Earlier this year, a man was convicted for stabbing a Spanish tourist at the same memorial after telling officers he intended to kill Jews. Authorities continue to monitor and investigate antisemitic incidents in the German capital.
