Forget the model wars, the real AI challenge is orchestration -opinion

The race to build the smartest artificial intelligence model is overshadowing a more important challenge: how to manage and coordinate multiple systems working at once. As artificial intelligence moves from experimentation into real-world operations, success will depend less on any single model and more on the infrastructure that orchestrates them. Organizations are increasingly running several models in parallel, each serving different tasks, creating interconnected ecosystems rather than standalone tools.

This shift introduces new operational and security complexities. Autonomous systems now interact with sensitive data, internal platforms, and real-time decision-making processes, making human oversight alone insufficient. The core issue is visibility, as companies struggle to track how information flows, how permissions are used, and how automated processes influence one another across layered environments.

Many of the vulnerabilities exposed by artificial intelligence are not new, including excessive permissions, dormant accounts, and fragmented system oversight. However, the speed at which automated systems can exploit these weaknesses has dramatically increased. The true competitive advantage in the artificial intelligence era will belong to organizations that can build governance frameworks and infrastructure capable of matching the speed and intelligence of the systems they deploy.
