The Dominican Republic has designated Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist organizations, becoming the 45th country in the past year to take such action against the Iranian military force. The decision was welcomed by Israel's foreign minister, who said it strengthens the international front against terrorism and sends a clear message against Iran and its regional proxies.
The move follows similar steps by other countries. Last month, Argentina added the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to its list of terrorist organizations, after previously recognizing Hezbollah and Hamas in the same way. Argentina's leadership said the decision positions the country at the forefront of efforts in South America to counter Iran's influence.
Earlier this year, the European Council formally designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization after reaching a political agreement among foreign ministers. The shift came after France withdrew its longstanding opposition, paving the way for a unified decision aimed at addressing security concerns linked to Iran and its affiliated groups.
