Couple found shot dead in car near central Israel, murder-suicide suspicion grows

Olga and Ruslan Prikhodko, a couple in their 40s from Rishon Lezion, were found dead in their vehicle near Moshav Mishmar Ayalon in central Israel after relatives reported them missing during a day trip. Family members alerted police when repeated phone calls went unanswered, describing the lack of contact as highly unusual.

Police used cellphone location data to trace the couple’s whereabouts and discovered their bodies in an open area between Carmey Yosef and Mishmar Ayalon. Initial findings indicated gunfire, and investigators first considered the possibility that Ruslan, who reportedly held a licensed firearm, shot Olga before taking his own life.

Subsequent forensic findings prompted authorities to broaden the investigation beyond the initial murder-suicide suspicion. Senior police officials conducted a situational assessment at the scene, and the case was transferred to the central investigative unit of the Central District. A court-issued gag order now restricts the release of further details as investigators continue to examine all possible circumstances surrounding the deaths.
