Yeshiva high school students in Ramat Gan surprised Yisrael, a Holocaust survivor and longtime neighbor, in celebration of his 100th birthday. Born in the Polish city of Łódź, Yisrael was honored with a festive gathering organized by the students inside their school.
As he entered the room, dozens of students greeted him with song, singing 'Happy Birthday' and presenting him with a large cake decorated with balloons displaying the number 100. The celebration was both joyful and deeply moving for everyone in attendance.
During the event, Yisrael shared painful memories from his time during the war, including the traumatic selection process at a concentration camp. He recalled how he was separated from his father after an encounter with the camp official who determined prisoners' fates, leaving him to survive on his own.
