A French shipping company said one of its container vessels was attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, leaving several crew members injured and causing damage to the ship. The company said the wounded sailors were evacuated for medical treatment.

French President Emmanuel Macron said France was not the intended target of the attack. A government spokeswoman noted that the vessel was sailing under a Maltese flag and was crewed by Philippine nationals, while France expressed its solidarity with those on board.
