Gadi Eisenkot has taken the lead in the race to head the opposition in the next election, according to a new survey. He received 27 percent support, ahead of Naftali Bennett with 16 percent and Mansour Abbas with 10 percent. Current opposition leader Yair Lapid trailed with just 6 percent, placing him at the bottom alongside Avigdor Liberman, while Benny Gantz and Yair Golan received 8 percent and 7 percent respectively. Nineteen percent of respondents said they would not choose any of the listed candidates.
Despite shifts in individual leadership preferences, the broader political blocs remain largely unchanged. The opposition continues to lead in general polling, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his party are struggling to close the gap. Recent regional developments, including fighting involving Iran and Lebanon, have not significantly altered the political landscape.
In head to head matchups for prime minister, Netanyahu narrowly leads Bennett with 43 percent to 41 percent. Against Eisenkot, Netanyahu holds a wider advantage, with 45 percent viewing him as more suitable compared to 38 percent for Eisenkot. Party seat projections show minor changes, with most parties holding steady compared to previous weeks.
